Using EBT At BJ’s

It may come as a surprise to learn that you can pay using EBT at this store as the prices are already so attractive on most products. You don’t even have to be a member to shop at BJ stores. However, you will need to purchase a one-day pass if this is the case. This allows you to browse and make purchases within a 24-hour window. Further information can be found on the main BJ’s website.

How To Use EBT At BJ Stores

The process of using EBT at BJ stores is fairly straightforward, but if it’s your first time using this payment method, take a look at our simple guide below to show you how.

Step #1: Scan Each Item

The cashier will scan each of your items. If you are purchasing both SNAP-eligible and non-eligible items, you can either put all of the items through at once or separate them at the checkout.

Step #2: Insert Your EBT Card

Once each of your items has been scanned, the cashier will ask you to insert your EBT card into the card reader.

Step #3: Enter Your Four-Digit PIN

You will receive a unique four-digit PIN number when you activate your card. You should never share your PIN number with others.

Once you have entered your card into the reader, you will be expected to enter your PIN into the machine in order to complete the transaction.

Step #4: Complete Your Transaction

If each of your items qualifies for payment using EBT then once your payment has been authorized, you are free to leave the store

If some of your items do not qualify for payment using EBT, then you will need to pay for the remaining products using another form of payment.

Do All BJ Stores Accept Payment Via EBT?

Yes, every BJ’s store accepts EBT. However, if you are skeptical about whether or not your local BJ’s accepts this form of payment, do not hesitate to give them a call where a team member will be more than happy to help.

Can I Use EBT Online?

According to BJ’s official website, the store now accepts payment using SNAP/EBT for purchases made online. This includes orders for in-club pickup, same-day delivery, and ship-to-home.

This can be said for every state but Delaware, which is due to be added to the list in the near future.

Other Payment Options

BJ’s offers customers a variety of ways to pay for their purchases including:

  • Cash
  • Debit card
  • Credit card
  • Cheque
  • Apple Pay

Most recently, BJ’s has added ‘Citizens Pay’ to the system which enables customers to finance items purchased online that are $99 or above. This gives customers the chance to Buy Now and Pay Later, instead of forking out a lump sum all at once. This is only available online.
